One Step At A Time

Sometimes we Activate the Power of Yes by taking things one step at a time. Giving myself a pat on the back, I would (unscientifically) say that some the most curious and enthusiastic are often the most cluttered. Especially with paper…articles, blogs, magazines and other periodicals, sample paint squares, how-to books…you get the idea. Feeling weighted by the clutter, I started putting all of those papers and books in topic stacks. After I realized I had moved on from certain topics areas (for me it was kitchen renovation, fashion and kids soccer) I was able to toss out the related paper…If I need any new info I can always glance on the internet and not print it out.

I marvel at how those AA slogans come in so handy for all of our lives. We don’t have to be alcoholics to recognize how powerful “One day at a time” or “First things first” are in everyday life. For instance, months ago when I got tired of all of the paper and furniture clutter, I started to move things out….which made me think Yard Sale, which had me cleaning out drawers and shelves…which led me to clearing out at least 30% of my stuff and having the Yard Sale, even selling a white leather sofa, dining table and four chairs, dresser and caramel colored leather chair and ottoman. Now, I have space to plan my newer next life! I didn’t start out demanding that I clear out, criticizing myself for all I had accumulated. …I just started the process and it evolved from there. It doesn’t require a big surge of energy to Activate the Power of Yes. Remember The Tortoise and the Hare from Aesop’s Fables? Slow and steady can win the race.
